The Celtic Hangings

I was busy all day yesterday my sewing studio making cushions and wall-hangings. My studio is in a Victorian Police Cell, I'm Cell Number 6🤣 I've added some photos for fun!

The panels are velvet printed with my original tapestry design. These designs are also available as tapestry kits to sew yourself!
First step was to cut the backing exactly, more difficult than it sounds as the velvet was slippery and I've just an itty, bitty space for cutting!

Next, to embroider the tabs....

Both of these tapestries use Celtic Knotwork of my own design. The CelticTree of Life has a central roundel border, and was inspired by the ancient Celtic Tree of Life represents the afterlife, and connection between the earth and heaven.

The Celtic Peacocks Tapestry was inspired by the entwined peacocks, which are found throughout the Book of Kells.
There are two central panels which each have two peacocks twisted about each other.
There is a large border framing these panels, with a further twelve coloured peacocks decorating it.

I'm pleased with the days work, the hangings are beautiful.

The Celtic Peacocks Velvet Wall-hanging is £85,

The Celtic Tree of Life Velvet Wall-hanging is £75.

I love seeing the photos of your cell.
