How to bind the edges of your finished tapestry.

Congratulations if you have completed your tapestry!

Binding is a lovely way to finish your work. It's not difficult, but you have to be careful.

Trim your canvas to 7 threads all around the edge.

Then carefully fold the canvas across the corner, at two threads, matching the holes exactly.

Fold along the edge a little way on each side of the corner.

Fold into a neat point.

Next choose the position for the binding stitching. In the example, the binding is designed in colour blocks. In this case, there is a pattern to follow.

Many of the tapestries are bound using a single colour.

Go along one way and then back.

When binding in a single colour, sew all the way around the canvas, mitring the corners as you sew. Then sew back to the beginning.

That is so clever. I’d always wondered how you do it. I’m still on Block 4…..I’m a late developer.
