This is taken from a ceramic illustration of the tale of Bahram Gur, the Hunter King.

He has taken his slave girl out hunting. To prove his love, she challenges him to a contest, he must pin the gazelle''s leg to its nose.

Once achieved, Azadeh claims such a skill to demonic and so Barhram in a fury has her crushed to death under a camel''s hooves.

A broad border surrounds this richly coloured design with a different camel motif in each corner.

It makes an equally splendid cushion or wall-hanging.

Sewn using Victorian cross stitch, no need for a frame.
