In 2005, I was approached by Traquair House to create a collection of tapestry kneelers. My brief was to look around the House and choose images and embroidery to inspire new designs.
The Pansies design was inspired by the Jacobean petit point embroidered slips which are part of the embroidery collection at Traquair House. The Pansy is a reoccurring motif within the embroidery.
The complete Traquair House Chapel Needlework Collection is on view in the chapel and was embroidered by community stitchers to celebrate the 900th anniversary of Traquair House.
The design is sewn dramatically in rich colours on a green and ivory striped background and would be enjoyed by the novice and experienced stitcher. Sewn using Victorian cross stitch, no need for a frame.
