Beautiful Camel Tapestry Cushion Kit by Carol Anne Long for Animal Fayre Designer Tapestry kits.
In 2005, I was approached by Traquair House to create a collection of tapestry kneelers. My brief was to look around the House and choose images and embroidery to inspire new designs.
The Camel design was inspired by the wall murals depicting a hunt at Traquair House. This design is one of a set of three, which also includes a Spotted Hound and an Eagle.
The complete Traquair House Chapel Needlework Collection is on view in the chapel and was embroidered by community stitchers to celebrate the 900th anniversary of Traquair House.
The design is sewn dramatically in rich colours on a dark background and would be enjoyed by the novice and experienced stitcher. Sewn using Victorian cross stitch, no need for a frame.
